Leadership of the Society

Meet the Officers.

The officers who run the Society, organize its gatherings, and occasionally disagree about the arrangements.

Dr. Ashley Munroe leads a board with responsibilities across membership, editorial, events, giving, standards, and technology. The officers serve without compensation. Parking is reimbursed, subject to Caroline’s review.

The Lincoln Park Trixie Society stands for bold leadership, fresh ideas, and true accountability. We also need more BMW X7's in the village.

Office of the President

Our Executive Director.

Ashley founded the Membership Committee in a Lincoln Park apartment with three friends, a printer, and forty-seven names. Members now call her Dr. Ash. She still knows which of those friends did most of the printing.

— A Standing Office —

The Office of Global Expansion.

The Office of Global Expansion reviews proposals beyond Lincoln Park. Each officer knows her region and reports to the Founding Chapter. The portfolios were assigned at the Annual Brunch, which accounts for Anneke’s unusual title.

The Committees

What we do.

Committee work keeps the Society running. Members are expected to take part, whether they are reviewing applications, organizing an event, or helping with the archive. New Members need not wait to be invited twice.

i.

Membership Standards

Reviews applications, conducts informal home visits, and maintains the Member Directory. Sponsorship by a current Member preferred. The Standards Committee meets weekly.

ii.

Editorial & Documentation

Edits Society Dispatches and the Journal, assembles the Week in Pictures, and looks after the photograph archive. Captions require names, places, and a reasonably clear account of what happened.

iii.

Foundation & Giving

Supports arts education, women’s health, parks, and the wisteria archway through Member dues and personal giving. Caroline reviews proposals and the annual accounts.

iv.

Events & Programming

Arranges the Champagne Brunch, Spring Trunk Show, Garden Reception, and Holiday Tea. Whitney handles venues and guest lists; Members are asked to reply before she has to ask again.

The Charter

What we stand for.

The Society's values are unanimously ratified by the Officers and printed annually in the Member Directory. Members are asked to review them upon induction and again at every Champagne Brunch.

i.

Standards

Members have opinions about cars, shops, restaurants, and how things should be done. Standards gives them a place to compare those opinions and occasionally revise one.

ii.

Discretion

Members should be able to talk freely among friends. Ask before passing along a private conversation or photograph.

iii.

Independence

Members make their own plans for work, homes, relationships, and the rest of their lives. Advice is readily available at the Society, including when it has not been requested.

iv.

The Village

Defined as Halsted to the Lake, North Avenue to Diversey. Honorable mention to Old Town under specific circumstances. The boundaries are reviewed quarterly.
