A lone sign is the only remnant left hanging three days after the Lincoln Park Trixie Society’s picket of the annual Cubs Convention, held Saturday February 3rd at the Chicago Hilton. Over 100 Trixies turned up to voice their discontent with Sammy Sosa’s dangerous home runs. Faced with an abundance of newer black Jettas and 3-Series BMWs, the Hotel was forced to open an auxiliary valet parking facility. For additional details on the Society’s efforts to make the bleachers safe again, see our open letter to Cubs management.
A ‘Grande’ Starbucks cup rolls around on the floor of Ravenswood train run #563, seen here at the Belmont stop. In just a few minutes the train will arrive at the cherished Armitage station, where hundreds of shoes purchased at Lori’s and DSW Shoe Warehouse will surely crush the cup. Amy Miller, a Society member, contributed this photo, in an effort to help keep our ‘EL’ trains a little bit cleaner.
It’s warm and toasty inside Tilli’s main dining room on a frigid Friday evening. Many Society members can be seen amongst the gaggles of Trixies and TrixieMales clogging this fashionably decorated room. Tilli’s manager Jennifer Carson (Society member) tells us that in an average Friday evening, over 800 Trixies visit her restaurant — nearly six times that of Pasta Palazzo, another Trixie-inspired restaurant immediately to the North on Halsted.
Two Trixies can be seen barreling down Halsted at Clybourn on their way downtown to shop at 900. Tightly bucked in their 1997 Landcruiser, the Trixies just cut in front of a Chrysler 300m in order to try and make the light. The Society suggests defensive driving whenever possible, to avoid time delays and other hassles of driving in the Village.
Crossing from the Potbelly Sandwich Shop at Webster and Clybourn, this Trixie keeps a tight grasp on her husband’s hand in order to keep her new ‘pilgrim-toed’, ‘fat-heeled’ pumps from getting muddy. The couple plans to pick up a book on strategic investing at Barnes & Noble and then head the few blocks back home in her new green Jetta, pictured right.
