The Week in Pictures

January 21, 2000

A gaudy ’97 Jetta GL brazenly displays a BMW badge in place of the VW insignia. As quoted by Pixie-level member Kelly Heeney “After all, a Jetta does look like a BMW!” …but only if it’s a nice shiny black 2000 Jetta, of course.

A gaggle of Pixie-level Trixies and TrixieMales from DePaul University gather around the Dominicks at Fullerton and Clark attempting to get a cab on New Years’ Day. The Trixie to the far left, leading the group, spots a cab with the help of her Adidas sheen.

Walking down Armitage Avenue is a tough job for Bass, this Irish Setter owned by TrixieMale Brian O’Shaunessey. Bass is outfitted in a green moss sweater and high-top English walking booties, accessories which are available from the Three Dog Bakery on North Halsted at Webster.

Just like the 19th Century settlers that withstood harsh climates to colonize the Midwest with their covered wagons, 21st Century Trixies brave the frozen tundra with their Sport Utility Vehicles and 4-wheel drive sedans. A Trixie can be seen on the far left entering her silver Passat with an extra-tall grande mocha after dropping off her Sex and the City DVD in the Kozmo.com box. On the far right, a TrixieMale dressed in his black Bally overcoat fights engine trouble with his 2001 Infinity QX4, wondering whether he should have bought the 4Runner or LandCruiser instead.

Thank heaven for remote trunk releases! Here TrixieMale Chad Trent O’Brien carefully unlocks his Land Rover while trying not to spill either of his extra-cupped gourmet coffee beverages. Chad tells Society Photographer Nora Goldendegger that he really enjoys his new Land Rover and the looks it gets him during his daily trips to Starbucks and the gym.
