Only last fall, hundreds of Trixie couples would have haggled over the price of these new luxury condominiums on Sheffield in the heart of the village. But the recent downturn of the economy is forcing Trixies and TrixieMales to think twice about shelling out $750,000 for a new construction condominium. Especially weary are those Trixies formerly employed by beleaguered mega-consulting firms marchFirst and Xpedior.
Will our cherished Chicago Sport and Social Club ever return? Trixies throughout the city are carefully guarding their closets full of Haines Beefy Tees emblazoned with the CSSC logo obtained through countless 5Ks, volleyball tournaments, and other events. Says Society Member Jen Fuller, “who knows, these garments might be worth a lot of money someday!”
TrixieMale Jon Martin (no relation to the Society’s membership director Jill Martin) quietly idles outside the Starbucks at North & Sheffield while his girlfriend Kelly runs inside to grab some Lattes. Jon is especially cheerful this morning because Kelly will finally fill up her most recent “A Whole Latte to Love” card and receive a free coffee beverage of her choice. Their extra-large Norwegian Schnauzer, nicknamed “Venti” can be seen peering out the rear window of Jon’s new Xterra. Jon and Kelly have recently written Starbucks asking that they carry doggy pastry treats in their Village-area stores.
Taking over many west coast cities is the Starbucks Plaza, a new 2-story concept apparently being tested by the chain. The Society is strongly lobbying the company to install such a Plaza in the new development at North & Sheffield, to be called the North Avenue Collection. With a 350-car garage and 3 drive-thru windows, the store would be a boon to all the Trixies who jet down the Sheffield/Kingsbury corridor every morning on their way to work.
Two “Golddigger” apple boxes are the only remnants of Jenny Thomas’ weekend bash, at which she had the forethought to setup a “bobbing for apples” game targeted towards TrixieMales who became over-inebriated on MGD and Heineken.
Demonstrating that the Spring is finally here, TrixieMale Bill Milsap shows off his new Adidas running pants and North Face jacket liner on his way to the Starbucks at Sheffield & Armitage. North Face and Adidas are among the best selling outdoor clothing brands in the Village, and are recommended by the Society as key purchases for all members.
