An early glimpse

The Jettas, the clothes, and the desktop-era website make this an unmistakable glimpse of an earlier chapter. Quite a few of the Jettas have been traded in. The interest in the village remains.

The familiar details

Saxenmeyer follows the Society's website into the neighborhood, talking with friends who live in Lincoln Park about shopping, personal style, and the Trixie description. They recognize some of its details and have their own opinions about the rest. The report also follows his attempts to reach Society representatives, before the studio discussion turns to the Society's proposal for reserved seating on CTA buses.

The interest in a good address, the right car, and a place in the neighborhood's social life is easy to recognize. So is the habit of comparing notes with one's friends. The Society has always paid attention to both.

The Society today

The Society's interests have broadened with its Members. There are dinners at the Alehouse, Range Rovers outside single-family homes, and a glass of wine where a round of beers might once have been ordered. There is still room for a night out, and for Members finding their own way through the village. We continue to compare notes.

The website has grown with us, with more guides, Member tools, and a fuller record of neighborhood life. We're pleased to keep the original feature here in the Society Archive.
