Trixie Shopping Guide - The Cylbourn Corridor

The Clybourn Corridor: Total Trixie Shopping Nirvana

The Clybourn Corridor has always been a favorite of the Lincoln Park Trixie Society. We just love all of the fabulous places to shop stretching almost an entire mile. At the south end, you’ve got Whole Foods and Best Buy with a parking lot full of Trixies and their husbands all vying for the same parking space in their Jetta or mid-priced Land Rover. Sometimes we even meet friends of ours in the parking lot by chance. When you finish shopping for overpriced yet impressive groceries, jump across the street to Restoration Hardware or Z Gallerie for some equally overpriced yet equally impressive home furnishings and accessories. Don’t miss the parking lot shared by the Container Store and Crate & Barrel, which is beginning to be THE PLACE in Lincoln Park to be seen in your black Jetta with Loeber plates. Don’t miss the trendy Tex Mex food at Uncle Julio’s, where you might meet spy some downtown co-workers having lunch while you play hookie shopping.

Zoom north on Clybourn, and you’ll run into Jayson Home & Garden, one of board member Melissa Jones’ favorite places to find new ideas for her new one-bedroom condo in West Lincoln Park. Next you pass several strip malls, with perhaps only a measly Pier One worthy of mention. Cross the street to find the Treasure Island Foods, which used to be the place for good Lincoln Park Trixies to shop before Whole Foods appeared on the scene.

Going North, we approach the Barnes & Noble store and Webster Place, where we all love to watch movies while holding our boyfriends and husbands close by in the overly cramped and deteriorating Sony Theatres. If all of this Jetta-driving made you hungry, stop at Pequod’s Pizza or the Potbelly Sandwich Shop across the street from Webster Place for a bite. Last but not least, you can perk up before the ride home by dashing over to the Webster Starbucks for a little “picker upper.”
