The Coat I Didn't Buy

Using the AI to Shop: It Talked Me Out of a Coat and I Haven't Recovered
The Diary · Filed by the Editorial Committee

After the yellow dress went so well, I asked the AI to help me shop. I expected it to find sizes and compare prices. I had a particular charcoal coat in mind, from a Milanese house, in a 42.

I've admired it more than once and usually wait until my size is gone. This time the AI found it almost immediately. Then it asked how it differed from the charcoal coat in my closet photographs.

The collar is different. I explained that. It asked how often I wore the other one.

I said in winter, which was accurate but apparently not specific enough. By the end of the conversation I had decided not to buy the new coat. I was surprisingly disappointed with a decision I had made entirely myself.

The AI congratulated me on saving $3,400 and suggested putting it toward the garden. The garden can certainly use it. I had just rather enjoyed looking forward to a coat.

It can keep finding sizes for me. I haven't decided whether to send photographs of the rest of the closet.
