April 29 – Lincoln Park, Illinois

– The Lincoln Park Trixie Society announces the release of the third major release of our award-winning website. The new site has been developed to further advance the the Society through the incorporation of a sleek new design depicting the colors and images remnicient of the good life in Lincoln Park. In addition to the virtual face lift, the new site showcases exciting new technology the Society and its consisuents so deserve.

The new site is the brainchild of Ashley Munroe, the Society’s Director of Communications. Miss Burke embarked on a search for new technology in late 2001, when she decided enough was enough when it came to the burdensome task up updating content. The new site not only brings forth a new and improved image for the Society, but allows any staff member or contributor to administer the site’s content from any computer throughout the Village.  “The anytime, anywhere issue was of paramount importance.. I wanted my staff to be able to add new pages and modify existing content from anywhere without having to learn new technology,” comments Miss Burke. “We designed it to not only help broaden our communications strategy here in the Village through a more businesslike look and feel, but to allow us to continue to effectively deliver the Trixie message to communities across the globe.”

According to Ms. Burke, there were three key features that pursuaded her to take the plunge and create the new website. “We wanted to every page to showcase the many glamourous people and places around the village, which we’ve accomplished thorugh the use of  branded banners at the top of every page and a member spotlight on the right side of  each page.  We also wanted to reorganize the site to clearly reflect our communications management strategy, which we did by reorganizing our content under two distinct sections entitled ‘The Society’ and ‘Trixie Lifestyles’.  Lastly, we wanted to nearly every page to be self-administratable by whomever we chose to deligate that task to, whether is was a staff member in the office, or a beat reporter working on her laptop at Starbucks. Being able to create a new Week In Pictures, or simply adjust some text was so important.  From time to time, I would notice spelling or grammatical errors made by one of our young, sometimes inexperienced interns. Using our new website, I’m able to do so just as if I was editing a Word document.”

“I really love the new look, but since I’m often responsible for adding new feature stories to the website, the updated technology really takes the cake in my book” remarks Jill Martin, the Society’s Membership Director. “I added the most recent Week in Pictures in less than 5 minutes, and it even allowed me to spell check my work on the fly. I know this will reduce my administrative hassles by hours and hours, allowing me more time to stop at the Day Spa or Starbucks.  I really can’t tell you how excited I am!”

Incorporting content into the site is beat reporter Jenna Thomas, who works for one of the Big Four accounting firms in the loop. “Of course, since most of the people in my firm work in the information technology consulting practice and not really in accounting,” comments Jenna, “we’ve had some real downtime since most of the dot-coms have dried up and we’re all on the bench. In my copious amounts of spare time at the office over the past year, I’ve contributed many Week in Pictures and several Police Blotter reports to the Society’s website. Using the cool new page editor, I’m able to whip up a new page–tables, graphics and all–in a matter of a few minutes, which gives me a lot more time to cruise some of my favorite sites on the internet or just chat with my best friends on the phone.  And this all comes at a perfect time for me; ever since my firm blocked FTP access, I’ve been unable to contribute any new content from the office.”

According the Society’s webmaster, Brian O’Halloran, the redesign of the site took just less than four weeks. “We could never have accomplished something like this back in my marchFirst days. It would have taken at least 100 more resources, and probably would have cost the client several millon dollars to say the least. And in the end, you know what, they wouldn’t have even had a working site.  I wanted to make sure that the Society didn’t suffer from some similar mis-managed, mis-technologied project.” Brian recognizes the hard-working team that synergized to help make the site come together: TrixieMales Jon Smitz, Chad Geller, and Eric Monahan and Trixies Keri Miller, Jen Johnson and Monica Schwartz.
