Members have been asking about the Doodle Pool, particularly since Penelope appeared in the photographs. Here is how reservations work.
The daily cost, the vet bills, and the forever-doggie-day-care can become rather a lot. Members still want a doodle beside them on Armitage, particularly when someone is taking photographs. The Pool was established after several requests to borrow Penelope for the afternoon.
How it works
The arrangement is straightforward. A Member reserves a doodle when one is needed — a stroll along the lakefront, a coffee on Armitage, a photograph that requires a doodle in frame. The Member returns the doodle when finished. The Member is not billed for grooming. The Member is not billed for the off-weeks. The doodle is maintained, between reservations, by the Pool.
“Penelope knows the route to coffee very well. Please leave time for her stops.”
The roster is small, and Members know the dogs by name. Temperament and care come first. The Committee also keeps photographs, which may explain why requests for Penelope tend to arrive together.
Pool membership is separate from Society membership and is reviewed on a rolling basis. Members in good standing receive priority reservation windows. The Society reminds all participants that a doodle returned in poor condition is a matter the Standards Committee takes seriously.
