An Open Letter
from Ashley Munroe
October 5
Dear Members and Friends,
I knew this day would come for me. It does for every girl in the village.
Jonathan and I were married on December 16th. I am pleased to report that the plan we announced for our wedding night was executed successfully and on schedule. I'm pregnant. Over the next few months, Jonathan and I will be very busy shopping for our perfect Lincoln Park dream home, planning and decorating the child's bedroom and playroom, and picking out new maternity wear. Therefore, effective Monday, April 30th, I will begin a one-year maternity leave-of-absence from the day-to-day management of the Society. In the interim, I will appoint one of the upcoming board member candidates as my replacement. The woman I choose as my successor will exhibit the same extraordinary Trixie leadership skills as I do, and will aspire to reach an equally impressive social and financial status.
During my period of absence, I will remain as the Board's advisory chairperson, and I will dispense my sagely advice and wisdom as time permits through my existing column.
We had originally scheduled the Society's board member elections for Friday, May 4th. Unfortunately, due to my recent decision, those elections will be postponed until Monday, May 14th to allow the existing board to regroup and reorganize.
There has never been a better time to be a Trixie than today. It's hard to believe how far we've come in just a few short years. We've transformed the Society from a small, close-knit civic organization into one of Chicago's driving forces of style, grace, and power. Society membership is no longer just a credential for admission to the highest echelons of Chicago social success-it is the prerequisite. But this is only the beginning.
By harnessing the powers of technology and new media, we've been able to educate millions of people about the wonders of Lincoln Park, Illinois--our urban oasis. We will continue to expand our horizons and conquer new frontiers--socially, geographically and technologically. Generation T has arrived, right here--right now.
