The cable cancellation has been postponed. We had agreed on November 1 at our discussion of the television bills, but Jonathan wants to get through the World Series first. Neither Chicago team is playing. That makes no difference to him.
On Wednesday, during the first game, he said, “It feels different on cable.” I asked what felt different, since we can get the broadcast through services we already pay for. He said there was a delay with streaming that you could sense even if you couldn't detect it. I didn't know what to do with that distinction.
His father watched the Series on cable, and Jonathan has kept essentially the same subscription throughout his adult life. He sits in the good chair and remembers games I didn't know anyone still thought about. I can leave that alone for another week.
“After the Series,” he said. I pointed out that the Series had always been the deadline. “After we process the Series,” he said. This is apparently something the Sunday group does.
I agreed. He also agreed to the flowers I wanted for the front urns, without asking to see the figures. We will try again in November.
