Some friends came over for a Bears game in September, and now they come every Sunday. We have ten televisions and the media room the two Daves worked on, so I can see how this happened. People have started agreeing on who will bring which dip without asking whether we're hosting.
The main game is in the media room, rather loudly. The fantasy-football people keep RedZone on in the kitchen and get up a great deal. In the parlor we put on the fireplace channel for anyone who wants to talk. I move between the three, mostly carrying things.
One man at the island says “same old Bears” every week. He doesn't seem especially unhappy about it. There is also a long stretch before kickoff when everyone has opinions about the new players. On Sunday I came in during a very serious discussion of a rookie's hips.
Karen's smoked whitefish is still the best dip. The new “deconstructed Italian beef” divided people, although they kept eating it while they discussed what was wrong. Another guest brought a dip with a QR code for the recipe and its story. The dip was perfectly nice. I don't think anyone scanned the code.
