The Lincoln Park Trixie Society, an organization that has operated in one of Chicago's most educated and politically engaged neighborhoods since 1990, issued the following statement on November 10.
"The Society is troubled," said Executive Director Ashley Munroe. "Not merely by the outcome, but by what the outcome represents: a demonstrated tolerance for conduct that this organization — and this neighborhood — has never found acceptable, the disregard for women. The contempt for expertise. The casual relationship with fact. Lincoln Park does not recognize these as qualities."
The Society noted that its membership holds advanced degrees, operates businesses, contributes to civic institutions, and participates in the democratic process. "We will continue to do all of those things," said Munroe. "With greater urgency."
The Society is not a partisan organization. It is, however, an organization with standards.
