The Society Issues a Statement on the Governor

The Lincoln Park Trixie Society today issued a brief statement following the federal arrest of Governor Rod Blagojevich on corruption charges.

"The Society has no comment on the substance of the charges," said Executive Director Ashley Munroe. "We will note, however, that the Society endorsed Governor Blagojevich in 2002 based on representations that have not, in retrospect, fully materialized."

The Society further noted that former First Lady Patti Mell Blagojevich, a fixture of Chicago Democratic politics and daughter of former Alderman Dick Mell, had not been a subject of the Society's prior assessment, "an omission the Board acknowledges as an analytical gap."

The Society is conducting a review of its gubernatorial endorsement process.
