A Lincoln Park address no longer a prerequisite for membership.
On August 27th, the Society’s Executive Board voted 3-2 to begin considering membership applications from Trixies residing outside of Lincoln Park, ending the Society’s decade-long policy of exclusion. Effective September 1, the Society will grant provisional memberships at the
T.I.T., Trixie and SuperTrixie levels
to ladies living in the surrounding neighborhoods of Bucktown, Lakeview/Wrigleyville and The Gold Coast, depending on their various qualifications.
The Society recognizes that many Trixies live outside Lincoln Park because of housing costs or their household’s work commitments. Throughout the 1990s, we observed the trend of single males purchasing condos and single-family homes in neighboring areas in order to strategically differentiate themselves from the average, generic 20-something professional male. Although a man living in a place like Bucktown brands himself as “hip” and “cooler than the rest,” most Trixies are too clever to be fooled by such nonsense. They realize that the depressed sales price of neighboring areas like Bucktown increases the available purchasing power of the couple’s household, enabling the couple to accelerate the acquisition of important capital purchases such as SUVs, jewelry, and cutting-edge apparel. But they also note that these men often spend far more than their Lincoln Park counterparts, assembling a more sophisticated wardrobe of Kenneth Cole branded shoes and apparel.
On the downside, even though these men come with sophisticated wardrobes, sleek vehicles and trendy addresses, nothing can replace the social and civic scene of Lincoln Park (nor the convenience of living within walking distance of the Sheffield Garden Walk). However, many Trixies tolerate such a situation temporarily while their husbands climb the ladder of success.
The map below details the Society’s new boundaries.
If you’re a Trixie Candidate living within these neighborhoods, we invite you to
