LPTS Urges Village Toward Coalition of the Willing

April 1 – Lincoln Park, Illinois —

The Lincoln Park Trixie Society today revealed its campaign to include the Village of Lincoln Park in the listing of the Coalition of the Willing. Society executives have been working the phones since Wednesday to win the support of Vi Daley, 43rd Ward Alderman. As of Monday, Alderman Daley had not commented whether or not she will support the diplomatic efforts of the Society. However, Ashley Munroe, the Society’s Director of Communications, is confident headway is being made.

“We’re certain that Vi supports our troops and will naturally support Lincoln Park’s symbolic gesture of patriotism. In a recent poll of voting Society members, we found that 8 in 10 Trixies feel that our inclusion in the Coalition will have many positive effects on both our troops and the rebuilding of Iraq,” says Burke. Miss Burke added that Ms. Daley has traditionally swayed to Society opinion because members and their mates make up a majority of the electorate in the ward.

However, in conversations with other villages in the city, the Society admits deep differences about the Coalition. Bucktown residents have protested outside Society headquarters this week, and Lakeview has denied any knowledge of a Coalition.

The Society wishes to be included with other countries and neighborhoods throughout the world who have joined the growing list of those who support American forces with direct military participation, logistical and intelligence support, specialized chemical/biological response teams, over-flight rights, humanitarian and reconstruction aid, or moral support.

The board has united in its conviction that Chicago and Lincoln Park should stand with other cities like Estonia and Honduras at a time when unity and compassion for cultures less fortunate than our own will ensure a swift end to the regime of King Hussein.

Citing the similarities between our own village and those throughout the world who have joined the Coalition of the Willing, Miss Burke compares Lincoln Park to the current coalition members:

Coalition countries have a combined GDP of approximately $22 trillion. The combined earning potential of Lincoln Park is also high, and will add significant dollars to the coalition bottom line.

Every major race, religion, ethnicity in the world is represented in the coalition. Lincoln Park is an increasingly diverse area.

The Coalition includes nations from every continent on the globe. Lincoln Park residents hale from all over the Midwest.

The Society, in preparation for the swift end of the war in Iraq, has already begun planning its role in the reconstruction of the liberated country. Humanitarian efforts are being considered, including care packages and an Adopt-a-Refugee program that will include frequent letters of encouragement and advice from Society members. A special LPTS committee has been formed to work with the Red Cross and Red Crescent to set up a charitable 5K run in the park to earn funds for the humanitarian efforts.
