LINCOLN PARK

,

ILLINOIS

– The Lincoln Park Trixie Society is excited to announce that the LPTS has been featured in the May issue of

National Geographic Magazine.

The Society spotlight appears in the May, 2002 edition of National Geographic in a story entitled “60614: Life by the Tracks”.  Written by author Shane DuBow, the piece investigates the fascinating, fast-paced lifestyle of

Lincoln Park

residents living along the Brown Line L tracks.

“It’s only natural that these folks would choose to detail life in

America

‘s most prestigious zip code,” chimes in the Society’s Executive Director Abigail Kendrick O’Rourke. “Shane DuBow, the author, originally contacted the Society many months ago… but we were naturally hesitant to participate after a reverse lookup on his telephone number revealed a campy

East

Village

address. Not only were we concerned about his legitimaticy, we just didn’t feel comfortable that someone from outside

Lincoln Park

could adequately capture the vibrant lifestyles we all enjoy here” Abigail stated.

“I

thoroughly

enjoyed the web-only photo gallery, which really captured the best of the Village…especially the Trixie standing next to the Brown Line train,” commented Jill Martin, the Society’s Director of Membership Services. “I believe they even interviewed Society Member Jenna Trenton, who was photographed jogging by a new development on

Sheffield

. I recall that several members called me up when the story was in the works wanting to know if the interviews were sanctioned by us or not.” (

“Lincoln Park is one of the new Seven Wonders of the World!” bragged Ashley Munroe, the Society’s Communications Director.  “National Geographic is a nice monthly, but wait until we show up in
