I always include gift receipts. Jonathan thinks they suggest I wasn't sure about the present. I think they suggest I know the recipient might want another size. We have discussed this enough that Dana put one of my speeches about returns on a pillow. The pillow cannot be returned. She was very pleased about that.
We did our own returns list at the dining table on the twenty-sixth. Three things are going back: the enormous “Fireside Library” candle, which smells like an airport; the avocado gadget; and a scarf in a yellow that isn't the right yellow. Jonathan's slippers need exchanging. His sister bought ten and a half again. He wears an eleven.
Then there is the sweater from the tax group. It is cable knit in a green the label calls “billiard.” Jonathan wore it on Christmas Day and is in nine photographs. I said we might have discussed it before the photographs. He said, “It's cozy.”
The sweater is staying for now. I've sent the tax group Frangos and a thank-you note. They have been very good to him, and I can dislike a sweater without putting it in the card.
The AI offered to show me post-holiday markdowns at 7:04 this morning. I declined. It called that “consistent with your December values framework.” I have a full hall closet and would like a nap. If that is what it means, we agree.
