May 15 – Lincoln Park, Illinois –

The Lincoln Park Trixie Society is pleased to announce our endorsement of a new partnership between Starbucks Coffee Company and Chicago’s Bank One.  Announced Tuesday, the partnership is designed to provide value-added services to the customers of both organizations, while increasing customer loyalty of both brands.

This announcement is especially exciting to Trixies throughtout the Village of Lincoln Park, according to Ashley Munroe, the Society’s Director of Communications. Miss Burke comments “we view this partnership between these two best-in-class brands as an a particularly wonderful benefit for all of our three thousand plus members. If you look at the numbers, eighty-five percent of our member Trixies carry a Bank One debit or credit card, and nearly ninety

percent consume gourmet beverages at Starbucks on a daily basis. The marriage of the two reduces the tasks we must worry about on a daily basis by one, and provides the added benefit of nearly free lattes and capuccinos.”

Adds Jill Martin, the Society’s Director of Membership, “We approached both Bank One and Starbucks several years ago with various partnership agreements, but this beats all. Since the Starbucks card was introduced in early 2002, tons and tons of members have started carrying the cards.  Making them harder plastic and able to buy things at other best-in-breed stores like Restoration Hardware, Lori’s Shoes or Whole Foods just makes it so much better.”

The Society’s research shows that many Trixies would rather trade in the ability to earn miles, which often total between two and three thousand per month for average members, for the ability to earn no-cost coffee beverages at the Starbucks chain.

Assuming that twenty five hundred

dollars are spent on a

credit/debit card situation in a given month, most Trixies would earn $90 in free Lattes during the same month.  At a rate of two Lattes per day, $3.50 each,  that nearly halfs the cost of coffee.  Out of twenty five members surveyed at their places of business this

afternoon, twenty three were clamoring at the opportunity to obtain the new cards.

“Customers who are frequent Starbucks visitors and frequent credit card users are going to have a substantial number of visits covered,” said Brad Stevens, director of marketing at Starbucks Interactive, a division of Starbucks Coffee.

In other words, no airline miles, but perhaps a month’s worth of mochas.
